Trendy, Sleek, Immersive, and Modern. The perfect place to spend your next select dining experience with a memorable flare. MORI Japanese Grill by Kumori Sushi offers an updated twist on Japanese cooking techniques that you’re sure to remember. Over the years, we have enjoyed their fresh, fried, and traditional sushi rolls, ramen, drinks, and even steak. All of which we reccomend. With a luxurious ambiance, I have even opted to host several birthdays at their Mcallen location. Perfect for date night, or even entertaining a large group of guests.

Our first course of Salmon Fireballs, a soup spoon shooter of salmon, crab, spicy mayo, serrano pepper, and ikura is a flavor bursting fan favorite that never disappoints.
Our second course consisted of two types of of traditional sushi, fresh Tobiko (flying fish roe) wrapped in nori (seaweed), and Scotish Salmon nigri style (with sushi rice). Both of which offer a classic fresh sushi taste while the quality of the ingredients does all the talking.

The third and main course was their American Wagyu- New York 8 Oz, cooked medium rare on their Japanese grill with their Southern Homemade Rub, and served with truffle mashed potatoes with ultra thin julienne fries with flaky salt and micro greens to garnish.
The steak was tender, and charred/cooked to perfection without being overseasoned. While the truffle mashed potatoes were perfectly buttery, with the julienne fries offering the ideal salty taste and crunch to complement the potatoes.
Their bar offers some of the most innovative mixology that the Valley has to offer with even better presentation.
I opted for their Sexy Sakura, consisting of fresh berries, blueberry vodka, cranberry juice, and lime juice in their unique fish glass.

While they boast an impressively extensive selection of domestic and imported beers, wine, and sake; where you are sure to find something for everyone. We also recommend trying their Japanese specialty alcohol beverages, that you can’t get anywhere else. Mori’s well drinks do vary in consistency so we do recommend asking for the liquor of your choice to be used for classic cocktails. While bar seating offers the perfect spot to catch current sporting events while dining or drinking (something very important to us).
Overall, Mori is a great place to entertain or even upgrade your weekend dining rotation. The dress code is casual during the day, while we recommend getting more dressed up at night to indulge in the experience. Requesting a booth during your reservation, up to 5 guests, is also a great way to boost the ambiance and feeling of exclusivity for your meal. Valet services are available. Be sure to check out MORI Japanese Grill located at 2200 S. Tenth Street in Mcallen right outside of the La Plaza Mall.
