Valley Confidential

  • Boocha Bar and Taproom

    September 5th, 2023

Fresh, Filling, Healing. The perfect place to grab your next gut-healthy meal. Here at Valley Confidential we value wellness as much as luxury, because we believe that health is wealth. The Boocha Bar and Taproom in Weslaco offers vegan hoagies, pizza, soup and kombucha made in house with unique flavors that rotate every week. This vegan hot spot is the perfect place to get your next post workout meal.

Kombucha is a carbonated fermented tea made from yeast grown gut supporting bacteria packed with probiotics to promote gut health and healthy digestion. Boocha Bar’s kombucha is made fresh with local and organic ingredients (Way to support Valley businesses!).

For our first course, we were lucky enough catch their specialty dish of the day, Tostadas. Made with black beans, corn, zucchini, and spicy poblano sauce.

Our second course was their Back To Cauli hoagie (my personal lunch favorite), a hot sandwich with grilled cauliflower, roasted garlic, balsamic glaze, spinach, and red sauce.

Our third course and showstopper was their Street Taco Pizza with seasoned ground walnuts, cilantro, red onion, vegan cashew cheese, cilantro sauce, and jalapeño. Which made for a deliciously spicy, and filling lunch.

With our meal we enjoyed this week’s kombucha flavors strawberry basil, lavender ginger, lemongrass ginger, and piña colada being our favorite. You are encouraged to sample all four flavors before ordering, which we love.

Overall, the Boocha Bar and Taproom is a great place to catch your next vegan nutrient packed meal. The dress code is casual, they offer a mini local market, weekly yoga, and indoor and outdoor seating. Be sure to check out the Boocha Bar and Taproom located at 308 S. Texas Blvd. in Weslaco, Tx.

  • Liam’s Steakhouse & Oyster Bar

    September 2nd, 2023

Private, Indulgent, Delicious. The perfect place to spend your next South Padre Island fine dining experience. Liam’s Steakhouse & Oyster Bar serves the freshest and high quality steak, seafood, and drinks that the Island has to offer, with the best views. We were wowed by how scenic and private our dining experience was, and can’t wait to return. The indoor ambiance was incredibly luxe and felt like a scene from a movie, with dim lighting, cushy booths, and plenty of candlelight. The perfect place for a date night, or an indulgent night out with a group of close friends or colleagues. We opted for outdoor seating, to get the full island dining experience, and it did not disappoint.

We were greeted with excellent service, escorted to the outdoor seating and were immediately waited on, the staff was alert and very knowledgeable about the drinks and dishes on the menu. We started with drinks and appetizers.

Their House Sangria is flavorfully made with a full bodied red wine, strong, fruity, and the perfect drink to get the party going.

Our first course was their oysters which were quality, fresh, and expertly shucked.

We dress our oysters with salt, lemon, hot sauce, cocktail sauce, and pepper in that order. Follow up with a cheers for the first round and enjoy.

Our second course was their Red Snapper, Shrimp, and Crab Meat Ceviche, which was deliciously fresh and the perfect segue into our entrees.

The Mahi Mahi Ixtapa, was a Mahi fish filet covered in a creamy garlic lime butter sauce, topped with avocado, served with a loaded baked potato, house wild rice, and a lobster tail by request.

The Roma Pasta was a hearty and satisfying blackened shrimp fettuccine, with mushrooms, parmesan, and a flavorful butter sauce.

Once we had a chance to catch up with one another, we had room for dessert, which was worth the wait. The staff was very patient in letting us do so, and brought out a dessert tray when we were ready.

We opted for their Coconut Cream Pie which was very airy and sweet, with the perfect amount of coconut flavor.

We also enjoyed their Crème Brûlée with a deliciously rich custard base and a crunchy caramelized sugar top.

Lastly, we ended the night with another sweet and strong Liam’s signature cocktail, their Chocolate Martini.

360 Chocolate Vodka, Godiva Chocolate Liqueur, Frangelico Liqueur, shaken and served in a chilled chocolate drizzled martini glass.

Overall, Liam’s Steakhouse and Oyster Bar is the finest dining the Island has to offer, and a highly memorable location to entertain. The dress code is Beachy Semi-Formal, and a great place to dress to impress. Indoor/outdoor seating is available and can accommodate all group sizes.  We recommend making a reservation at least 3 days in advance to ensure seating. Be sure to check out Liam’s Steakhouse and Oyster Bar located at 202 W. Tarpon St. on South Padre Island, Tx.
