A new perspective on a Valley all time favorite. While it takes 4-5 minutes to drive over the Queen Isabella Causeway (on a good day) on the way to South Padre, have you ever wondered what it would be like to really savor the view and walk or run the bridge? The 8th Annual Causeway Run is coming up, September 16th, 2023, and is the best way to see the Island and the Causeway Bridge in a whole new way.
We attended the 7th annual Causeway Run last year on a whim, and it became an instant tradition ever since.
The 10k run to Louie’s Backyard starts at 7:00 am (6.4 miles), with the 5k walk beginning at 7:15 am (3.2 miles) past the historic Port Isabel Lighthouse, on and over the Causeway.
The view is absolutely stunning and gives you a whole new appreciation for our slice of Valley Paradise.
The 8th Annual Causeway Run is still open for registration, with onsite registration also available September 16, 2023. A shuttle after the walk/run is available to Louie’s Backyard for free refreshments, along with a shuttle back to the Port Isabel Community Center to retrieve your vehicle. Registrants also receive a free shirt while supplies last and a finisher medal once crossing the bridge. You can register day of at 213 N. Yturria St, Port Isabel, Tx Community Center.
